Flight of Dragons
(Flight of Dragons is a twist on the legion of King Arthur.) The magic world takes dragons & mates them with other magical creatures making the dragons human side stronger. But some in their world don't agree with the Kings' decision & a war breaks out. Eight high breed dragons are the answer to ending the war & bringing Avalon back. Can the first eight save their world & yours or will both perish in a red hot blaze?
🐉 Chapter Six 🐉
Taking the steps to the bottom he found the four doors just as Vaeros had said would be there. The first one starting from the left was made from the earth, it was a deep brown and the roots that were in it moved like they were worms. The next one was light blue and hollow with little tornados and clouds moving around inside of it. Then came a door that was the colors of fire starting from the bottom where the blue was to the top where red indicating the hottest part of a flame glowing. The door moved like a flame would and he thought it was amazing. The final door was clear but you couldn’t see through it, the water was all the colors of the sea moving within it.
At first, nothing happened, he stood there watching the doors move with their elements controlling the movements. As he was watching the door made from earth he heard a scraping sound from his right.
There standing ajar was the fire door, walking towards it pulling it open and walked inside to thousands and thousands of keys. Keys of every size, keys made from gold, rock and other types of material. Some were hanging, others laid out in displayed cabinets, and some were in piles in the corner of the room. Nothing really stood out to him or shouted at him that it was his key.
He continued to look around, he walked up to the ones hanging on the wall but nothing caught his eyes. He walked over to the piles and started moving them around but again nothing. Just when he was about to head for the display cases he caught a lone table off to the side and stuck behind a huge key leaning up against it.
Moving the key he found the table top was a lid, trying to open it by just raising it didn’t work. “Think Chris” he felt around the lid and the rest of the table until he found a keyhole. “Who would have thought” feeling the hole we found it was shaped like a heart. He hadn’t seen that kind of key in the piles or hanging on the wall so he went to look in the one place he hadn’t.
Stepping up to the display cases he saw in each of them one type of key was displayed inside. In one case keys were shaped like a diamond, another carried star shaped ones, there were ten cases in all and in the fifth one, he found the heart shaped ones.
Some were too big and others too small he had a choice to make between three keys of the same size he thought would fit the lock. He didn’t know what would happen if he tried all three but something was telling him that it wouldn’t be a good idea.
Chris decided to really look at the lock to see if it had any clues to what key would fit. Bending down he couldn’t get a good look because it was too dark in the corner, he was going to head back out of the room when all of a sudden light came out of his hand. It startled him at first but then he found it to be warm and comforting, moving his hand up to the hole he could tell that it was white gold and had a blue gem inside of it.
Looking at the keys he knew which one belonged to the lock, it was white gold and the heart had its middle cut out. Inserting the key the lid popped open, standing up he looked inside to find a necklace. It was a white gold dragon with two blue gem eyes hanging from a white gold chain. Picking it up he was confused because it wasn’t a key, but he knew that it was what he had been looking for in the room.
Exiting the room he heard the door close behind him and as he continued up the stairs he tried to figure out how a necklace could be a key. Stepping out into the bright sunlight Chris walked over to the golf cart and held out the necklace for Vaeros to see.
“Mighty fine that is, glad you found it. Tell me what door opened for you?”
“The flame one, and this isn’t a key you said I would find a key and there were keys, lots of keys. But this” he held it up “is just a necklace.”
“The dwarves were asked to make the keys, and finding out who made yours will tell us how your necklace is a key.” They drove straight to the mountain side of the world. Vaeros told him that when the first were made, gifts from each parent were given to the babies. When the eggs were taken they locked up the gifts in hopes the children would return and calm them.
They had to change out the cart for two hover scooters so not to hurt anything in the woods that surrounded the village. It took little over an hour to drive to the mountains, and another twenty minutes to rise to the keepers' hut high in the mountain village.
“Now dwarves aren’t like what you have heard, they are peaceful people but very proud and they should be, because of their work, their craftsmanship is unequaled. So whatever you do don’t leave my side and if asked anything only answer with very few words.”
“I’ll do my best but I can’t promise anything if I don’t know what will offend them.”
Vaeros smiled “that is one of the best answers I have heard since I started doing this.” He slapped Chris on the back and walked into the hut laughing.
In the hut sat a small man with a very long white beard, he sat behind a desk made for an average size man. Looking up from his books and papers a slow smile spread a crossed his face. Holding out his hand he addressed Vaeros “I was wondering when you were going to get to me, welcome back Vaeros.”
“It is an honor for you to see us on this day Tarek of Bane, I have brought the youngling to see you in hopes you would honor him by looking at his key.”
Tarek looked over at Chris and held out his hand. Chris assuming he wanted the necklace, gave it to him. “Aaawww yes, very nice work, very nice work indeed.” Turning it over this way and that “white gold, two blue diamond’s, very rare diamonds I might add. Made for Aryxon your queen for her son Shakris DarkSnow to open the book belonging to Morgana Draco daughter of Ikkan your king.” Then he touched something and a key blade popped out, the blade looked like an old skeleton key. “Yes I thought so” and he jumped down from his chair disappearing behind the desk. You could hear some footfalls and then something slid across some wood, more footfalls and Tarek was back in his chair with a book.
Opening the book he flipped through the pages “here” and he turned the book around to show them a picture of a dwarf. “This is Doraim of Thest our builder of secrets, he liked to hide things in plain sight so if our king or queen needed a quick getaway they had one that only he and they knew about.” Turning the key over again He showed them what he was talking about “see here” he pointed at the blade “if you push here on the one eye it releases the blade, and if you push on the other” he did and the blade went back up into the dragon. “If I also remember right only you will be able to use the key” and he handed the necklace back to Chris.
Sea Guardians (Names) & Animals (Names) Powers
King Oresus Starfish – water wraith is the power to use any water and turn it into a ghost that will haunt its target until they die. Lightning vortex causes a lightning tunnel, sucking you in and electrocuting you.
Whisper – the power to call sea creatures while in the sea, and while on land.
Queen Annelise (Elise) Starfish – primal rage is the ability to induce an instinctive and uncontrollable rage in others, as well as suppressing their conscious thinking. Seismic burst is the ability to emit a shockwave that is able to repel another person away.
Nagendra – atmokinesis manipulate the weather by mixing water, fire, earth, air, and lightning/electricity.
Princess Alexandra Starfish (Allie & Alex) – empathic weather is the power to manipulate the weather with one's emotions. Enchantment is the ability to bestow magical powers on an object or an individual.
Lapetioides – water Mimicry is the ability to turn into liquid water.
Princess Alillyana Starfish (Lily) - luring is the ability to lure others and make them slavishly devoted and willing to do anything to please the user. Luring works on sexuality and temptation and often only works on the opposite sex. Possession is the ability to control living beings by entering their body.
Minnie - power Containment is the ability to store and contain magical powers in white spheres, magical containers or other beings.
Delaney SeaAngel – her ability is too light of the Guardians of the sea world and keep the Darkness out. She is also the keeper of innocents because she is kept young and away from others who will take her innocents, she’ll always be the keeper.
Hesperus - illusions is the power to make any living things to see what isn’t really there.
Tegan Seastar – creation is the ability to create anything and everything from nothing. Opposite to Destruction. Healing is the power to restore biotic organisms and living beings to their optimal health.
Iris – phoenix mimicry is the ability to take on the characteristics of a Phoenix. This includes the ability to fly, produce healing tears, wield fire, and reincarnation from one's ashes.
Sean Darkblood – acid blood is the ability to turn one's blood into acid without burning the user. Heat generation is the ability to emit greater-than-normal heat from the body.
Allika - laser emission is the ability to generate a blue-colored laser beam from one's finger or in this case tail.
Cortlan Seastar – Hydrokinesis is the ability to create and manipulate water. Alterations is the power to change any living things looks.
Sumnus - sedation is the ability to cause a victim to fall into a hypnotized or sedated state.
Nichole Lifemender (Nikki) - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Nerve manipulation is the ability to manipulate the nerves and nervous system of oneself or others. Variation of Body Manipulation.
Odilia - oil secretion is the ability to secrete crude oil from one's hands or paws.
Amy BattleFlame - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Light teleport is the ability to teleport to wherever a light source is located.
Alika – soul absorption is the power to absorb souls and utilize them in some way.
William Sharktamer (Bill) – combat sense helps Guardians focus on the battle at hand. Everything else becomes dulled and muted as the Guardians senses are all turned to the combat happening around him. All targets become mentally highlighted in the Guardians mind, aiding him or her in attack and defense. Clairsentience also referred to as psychometry or psychometrics and is the ability to perceive the history of an object or person by touching it.
Aldo – steel body is the power to transform into or have a physical body made up of steel.
Robert Sharktamer (Bob) – finder is the ability to find any living things after touching something that belongs to them (unless they are being blocked). Destruction is the power to unmake and destroy anything, everything and everyone to total and utter nothingness. Opposite to Creation.
Xander - blood finder is the ability to track blood whether old or new to the to the person losing blood.
Brett Sharktamer - Clairaudience is defined as clear hearing. It is one of the four major ways we receive intuitive information. It’s a wonderful intuitive ability to have! Clairaudient messages can come from your Higher Self and your spiritual team: spirit guides, loved ones in heaven, and even angels. You may hear words, phrases, music, or sounds. Disruption is the ability to disrupt all systems whether they be biological, mechanical or even supernatural.
Andreas – rock body is the ability to cover one's body with any type of rocks.
Bryan Sharktamer - clairempathy is a psychic ability; normal human empathy is not. Psychics with this special ability are able to act as emotional or medical surrogates for others, and directly experience what others are feeling. Enhanced Intuition is the ability to anticipate or sense danger before it occurs. Most often this ability is developed from psychic powers such as Premonition.
Theron – invisibility is the ability to become unseen by the naked eye.
Nicole Steelheart – phasing is the ability to pass through solid matter. Amplify emotions is the ability to make any living things emotion feel more emotion or greater emotion when they are feeling.
Manson – wind vortex is the ability to generate a spiral/vortex of air.
Kiley RainSinger - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Discord is the ability to create conflict between people.
Coyle – Electrokinesis is the elemental ability to control and generate electricity and throw lightning.
Dustin Moonhammer - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Liquification is the ability to change into water momentarily.
Rufus – water scrying is psychic ability; water can be used as a means of scrying or as an object for meditation.
Cole Ironhorn - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Shadow Manipulation is the ability to generate and manipulate shadows to various effects.
Digby - shredding is a form of teleportation that allows the user to disperse their molecules one place and reform elsewhere.
Jesse Thunderweaver - luminescence is the ability to emit bright light from one's body. Microwave emission is the ability to emit microwaves.
Angus - nerve gas emission is the ability to emit nerve gas.
Daymond (Williams) Nightstalker - Astral Projection is the ability to project the consciousness into an astral form outside of the body. Astral forcing is the ability to force someone to astral project themselves to the users’ location. Also has control over his three harpy sisters (Myrna, Sestiva, and Kestrel) who have the powers of the underworld.
Alycess (Alice Williams) – queen harpy underworld powers. Mom to Daymond, Myrna, Sestiva, and Kestrel. She is the taker of half of Richard Nightstalker’s soul and giving it to her unborn son Daymond.
Hydie Watershield – sand scrying is psychic ability; sand can be used as a means of scrying or as an object for meditation. Body Insertion is the ability to physically transfer a person into someone else's heart and mind.
Mighty - Force Fields is the ability to control a shield of a great amount of concentrated force.
Pheebus Whitecoat – melting is the power to liquefy objects/organisms into a liquid form. Memory Recall or retrieval of memory refers to the subsequent re-accessing of events or information from the past.
Eightball – camouflage is the power to visually blend into the immediate environment.
Rogric Whitecoat - hypnosis is the ability to put someone in a submissive trance. Blood master is the ability to manipulate blood in any living thing.
Valdus - Geo-thermokinesis is the ability to manipulate, control, and create lava, magma, and volcanoes.
Thomasina OceanSeer (Tommy) – precognition future seer the ability to see into the future. Combined seers, is the ability to combine one's powers with others with the same ability type.
Suri – hope empath is the ability to feel hope in others and channel it.
Georgette OceanSeer (Georgia) – precognitive present seer the ability to see into the present. Combined seers, is the ability to combine one's powers with others with the same ability type.
Ronan – grief empath is the ability to feel grief in others and channel it.
Michaela OceanSeer (Mickey) – retrocognition past seer the ability to see into the past. Combined seers, is the ability to combine one's powers with others with the same ability type.
Mycin - anger empath is the ability to feel anger in others and channel it.
Adam DeathsThorn – deviation is the ability to return attacks back to where they came. Portal creation is the ability to open portals to parallel worlds, dimensions, or planes.
Nagge - remote teleportation is the ability to teleport other people from one place to another without physical contact with that person or teleporting oneself.
Amanda DeathsThorn – door creations is the ability to make doors or use doors as portals to go anywhere. Remote Teleportation is the ability to teleport matter/energy from one location to another without physical contact.
Shimri - aura choking is the ability to strangle someone through their own aura.
Guardians 2nd Book (Guardians of the Sea)
Chapter My Trap
It took us a few more days to get to that mile mark then it took my smaller party but we did finally make it and it was kind of a relief to be near our destination. The days had seemed long because after a few days what do you talk about but the pending fight that we all knew was coming and no one wanted to talk about that just yet. We set up camp and that night was the only time Jason didn’t send Lance up ahead to scout instead he sent someone back to get Rylee and to bring her to him.
He gathered his people and all the generals in his tent and told us about wanting to see why Rylee and King Oresus map couldn’t see past that mark. He would send Rylee no further than a few feet into that part and see if maybe they just blocked us from this side or if maybe it was something else. Devon demanded to go in with her and Nicole said that since it was her duty to watch over Rylee she was also going.
Swimming up to the edge of that mark I looked in and from where we were it seemed darker, more like it belonged to them like the Darkness had claimed this part and no light, not even the one I was caring for me because of Nikki’s power was going to enter it. Rylee commented that she felt and saw nothing beyond that point and for her not to at least see something bothered her a great deal. Taking a deep breath Rylee, Devon and Nicole entered. They were to only go ten feet in and no further and to take it one foot at a time.
“Do you see or feel anything Rylee?” Jason asked.
With her eyes closed, she shook her head then went a little further in. When they hit the ten-foot mark she turned around and said: “I’m sorry Jason but I can’t get anything it’s like they blocked me.”
Jason said nothing just sat there for a minute thinking. Then turning to me he said, “Night talk mind to mind with Rylee.”
“Ok but why?”
“Just try it.” I found the thread that connected me to Rylee and followed it but as soon as it hit that mark it stopped. With a shocked look on my face, I told Jason I couldn’t even get into even connect with her.
“I was afraid of that” sighing “ok go in there Night I want to see if even your power will work past this point or if we are going to have a problem on our hands.”
I stepped into that darkness and tried again this time I could connect with Rylee and even talk to her mind to mind “Jason it works I can talk to her.”
I saw some relief go through him “that means they couldn’t block all of us.”
Coming back to us Rylee asked why was it that her power didn’t work in there and from what Jason thought was that the barrier or whatever they put up to block the powers of light only worked on some powers when they were in there but not on all and that might be a problem but for now he found out what he needed to know. Turning around he motioned the heads of the camp back to our tent and left Nicole, Rylee, Devon, Lance and I there.
Shrugging her shoulders Nicole said, “I tried using my powers in there and I know they work.”
“I hate it that I can’t see past this point it’s like I’m blind to what’s going to happen to you guys and I’m afraid something bad is going to happen.”
Taking her into his arms Devon laid his head on hers “don’t worry we now know that your power is working just fine and it has nothing to do with you blocking it again.”
I looked at Rylee “you thought you were blocking your power again?”
Taking her head off Devon’s chest but not leaving his arms she said: “I thought my fear for you guys was blocking my sight again and that in the event something happened it would be my fault because I wasn’t doing what Jason taught me to do when that happened.”
Nicole stepped in here “and I know that she has been working on not letting her fear do exactly that but when this happened she told me that she thought that it wasn’t working anymore. I told Devon about it when we got here to see if he may help her with her fear because anything I said wasn’t helping.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this I could have looked to see if you were blocking your power again?”
“Because you have enough on your plate and I didn’t want to bother you with this if it was nothing and as we can see it is nothing. It’s not me it’s this” gesturing to the dark wall in front of us “and now that I know that my fear is not blocking me I can see if maybe I can get past this block to try and help you guys.”
Turning to us Lance said, “I know this is off the subject but while we all know that Nicole’s, Devon’s and Night’s powers work in this thing I would like to know if mine does.”
“I don’t know Lance Jason isn’t here to ask and he might not be happy with us if you cross into there without his permission.”
“Rylee I’m not going in that far just far enough to see if my powers work” and with that, he went through the wall. First trying his power of pyro we all saw a flame come into his hand putting that out he nodded and went a little further in. We watched as he looked around for something none but he could see and just when he turned to us and gave us thumbs up something happened. Hands came out of the sand grabbed Lance by the tail and dragged him under, Rylee screamed and the rest of us swam in to try and help but it was too late he was gone.
Back in mine and Jason tent after a search had been sent to look for any sign of Lance we told him what had happened and of course like Rylee said he wasn’t happy with us. “First of all you let him go in there by himself he had no backup” he was pacing at this point indicating he was very, very, angry “second you all knew better than to let him go in there but none of you but Rylee questioned him over it, and third” he had stopped flashing his eyes at us “one of our best trackers and your friend has been taken and we have no clue if he is ok or even alive.”
Rylee was crying her eyes out and even I could see it was taking every ounce of discipline Nicole had to not let the tears I knew she had in hers fall down her check to mix with the sea. Entering the tent the one they called Gen. Charlotte Lighthouse whose power as I understood it was the one Jason used to make his voice project itself so everyone could hear him. Bowing to Jason she told him there was no sign of the boy and that she thought a sand crawler had been the one to take him. Jason told her thank you and to bring everyone back in and to get some rest before their shift.
I took this time to tell him my thoughts “he isn’t dead Jason he still lives and we will get him back.”
“And how in the world could you know that when your mind can’t connect to his right now.”
Gathering up my courage I called in Lance’s animal and looked Jason in the eye “because of him” I pointed to the fish that entered the tent. “I was told once that if a Guardian dies so does their animal because no other Guardian could tame that animal and because he still lives I know so does Lance.”
I saw some of the anger leave his eyes “you are correct but that doesn’t excuse you letting him go in there alone.”
I nodded “You're right it doesn’t and we should’ve listened to Rylee when she told him not to go but just like you were and every other guy Guardian out there in those tents that was his age he wanted to prove to you and to us that he could take care of himself.” He started to say something but I went on “and yes I know to look where it got him. But we could also look at this as a way that he helped us because we now know that staying that close to the sand in there will get us caught and that’s one trap we can avoid.”
The rest of the anger left his eyes and replacing it was a thought I could see it go across his mind. Nodding his head and giving me a little smile he said: “Alright you have me there on that one he did help and we now know that from here on out we will have to swim higher above the sand.” Swimming over to Rylee he took her from Devon and held her for a minute before saying “and Night is right we’ll get him back alive this I promise you, Rylee, we’ll get him back.” Stroking her head a little longer he handed her back over to Devon and told him to send her back to the castle and get some sleep. Turning back to the table with his papers after they left he didn’t say anything to me at first and just when I thought he was still really mad at me and wasn’t going to say anything to me he surprised me with a question “do you know what Rylee’s and Lance’s parents asked me to do before we left to come down here?”
I just shook my head “they asked me to bring their children back to them alive not unharmed or even with all their body parts they just asked for me to bring them back alive.” Then laughing he said, “and Nicole’s parents told me that no matter what or who I was that she was their only daughter and if anything happened to her they would take me down.”
“What about the Blackhope’s what did they ask you?”
“You know the only one who asked me anything was the Judge and he just said to take care of him. Hawk did ask me something also but it wasn’t what I thought it would be.” I didn’t get what he meant and I told him so “he told me instead of bringing you back alive because he knew I would do just that he asked me to make sure that the Darkness didn’t get you.” He turned then to look at me “and now that I think about what it was he said, because at first, I was confused, it now makes sense.”
“I’m sorry Jason I’m not following you why would Hawk at any point think that the Darkness was going to get me?”
“Because it has been trying to since we got down here or should I say he has been.” I didn’t say anything because I had no clue who he was talking about I guess he knew I had no clue because he then asked me who in the heck Daymond Williams was.
“He’s just someone I dream of now and again. How do you know about him?”
I told him Lorcan said as he entered the tent before everything happened with Lance I had been sleeping and because I didn’t have to block your dreams at that point I was able to let my mind wander. I went back to that place I found you at when you were leaving us and I poked around.
“You can go into my dreams without me even having them?”
“Night that place isn’t a dream it’s real and he’s real.”
Jason’s right it didn’t feel anything like a dream to me and the more I poked around the more I understood. Daymond Williams is a real person with real parents and you were really there with him in those woods.
Looking back and forth between them it hit me Daymond had told me time and time again that he was real I just didn’t believe him. “He had told me he wasn’t a dream and that everything I was seeing was real but I didn’t believe him because I had no idea how I could end up there or why I only went there when I was sleeping.”
“It’s called astral projection Nightmare and Daymond isn’t who you think he is.”
Lorcan explained to me that while he looked around the woods he came upon the cabin that Daymond and his parents lived in but they weren’t there, I told him that they might have been at the club but he told me to hush up because I needed to hear this so I could understand who I was dealing with. After giving him an evil look he continued, he decided that because they weren’t there he would take a closer look at these people that had come into my life without anyone knowing who or what they were. He didn’t get far before he heard voices coming back to the house and he had to hide in the woods because coming from around the huge garage came Daymond, a women and Richard Nightstalker.
“Wait, wait, wait,” I said waving my hand for him to stop, “I thought my uncle was in a coma I put him in what do you mean he was with Daymond and why in the heck would he even be with a human?”
“Should you or I take this one?” Jason asked Lorcan.
I don’t think it will matter really who tells her but because I was there I think I’ll tell her. Jason motioned for him to go right ahead Night my light my Guardian do you know how Daymond spells his name?
“Yes, it's spelled D-ay-m-o-n-d” and like a punch in the gut it came to me “day and night his name has the day in it like mine has night.”
“Yes Night he’s Richard’s son and because of him you’ve been astral projecting yourself every night he could force you to and right to him.”
“And he’s the one who brought Richard out of his coma isn’t he?”
“We don’t know but we believe yes he is.”
“Why are you telling me this now, why couldn’t you wait until we got back home?”
Because he is very angry right now with his failed attempt at getting you the last time and now that I’m blocking your dreams again he can’t get to you.
“How is blocking my dreams from him not letting him get to me if he is real me dreaming shouldn’t matter.”
“He has his father’s powers in some ways and others we believe because of his mother and when you dream he can force you to use your mimic power making you astral project yourself to him.”
Nodding my head because it made sense him being Richards’s son he should have some powers like his dad, like with my dad and me being able to talk to the wild cats but mine was different just like he was. “Alright that explains the why and who but not the how.”
“The how what do you mean the how?”
“I mean how they got me to slowly start to leave my body here and go to where ever it was they were trying to get me to go.”
Astral projection is a form of taking one’s self from one’s body and going someplace else but if used too much or if you're away from your body long enough your body will fade and what will be left of you will only be the projection. But we don’t think that’s what they were trying to do we think they were trying to get you go to him and stay with him so he could bring the darkness that sits inside you out and you would go to their side.
“You mean to turn me and use me to get to all of you?”
“Not just that Night but to have two children who fulfill the prophecy and having both children on one team would give that team a great power.”
“The prophecy oh Light the prophecy” I put my head in my hands “he fulfills it also” I had to sit down “do you know how old he is because he seemed my age.”
He is your age but was conceived long after you were.
“And how does that work?” Then something else hit me “oh yuck the last time we were together he had me try and sleep with him and he’s my cousin Light what a sick person.”
To answer both questions comes easy because his mother from what I found out is a harpy. He smiled at me because I knew I again had a confused look on my face harpies don’t have babies like normal things have babies. They can get pregnant at any time they want to but in order for them to have the baby live they need a soul because the fetus doesn’t have one and that’s where the father comes in. So the cousin thing really doesn’t work in this scenario while he’s Richards son he is only his son by soul not by blood.
“You mean the baby that is living inside them doesn’t have a soul so they take the soul of whatever they want and sticks it in their baby?”
Yes and no harpies are very picky when it comes to the souls of their babies and wouldn’t just take any soul.
“And because of whom my uncle was and the prophecy they decided to try and make a baby to fulfill it.”
“That’s what we think happened and that’s how Daymond was made.”
Oh, it gets better than that once they get that soul the baby can be born at any time and try to guess what day he was born on?
“You aren’t saying we share the same birthday are you?” I asked with a hint of anger in my voice.
No in a sick and twisted way your uncle had his son born on his brother’s birthday.
“Night, are you alright?”
I felt all the color drain out of my head but then what filled me was anger, anger for my father, anger for my mother, but most of all anger for the lies he told me that he made me feel like I could trust him. Balling my fist up I said, “I’m going to kill them both and this time my uncle won’t have anyone to bring him back from anything because it’ll be permanent.”
“I should’ve killed him when you were in his head but I hoped he would have at least been in that coma a lot longer but it seems his son is a very powerful Guardian or his harpy powers are strong.” Waving his hand in the air to wave it away “what or whoever Daymond is we now know that there are two of you and I can’t say what his powers are or even if he is a Guardian when he wasn’t born like one.”
“Speaking of being born you said that they have to put a soul into the baby how in the world does something live without a soul?”
Oh, they can live they are just a shell of something to control by the person who owns their soul.
“So Richard is being controlled by Daymond?”
I can’t say, he was walking around and talking like he wasn’t being told to do so but I’ve never met a shell before so I wouldn’t know.
“I’ve seen one and I know unless they are told to do something they just stand there like a statue.”
“But he was acting like you and I are now?”
Yes, he was talking and giving his thoughts on how you broke away from Daymond the last time he had you. It concerned me because it didn’t make any sense to what I know of harpies and their off springs but there they were and he called Richard dad.
“I’ve heard that when you want to keep the person from becoming a shell they can take half your soul and then you both are functional. But the thing is I’ve never heard of a harpy wanting that because they hate men with everything that they are, some even go as far as killing the baby if it’s a boy.”
“I’ve seen pictures of harpies and they didn’t look a thing like the pictures I saw.”
“No, and they wouldn’t they would look like a human until they show their true self. I fought a harpy once and brought it back to get some answers out of it about its kind.” I winced because I knew how he had to get those answers “yes it didn’t give up for quite some time and that made me have to work that much harder to get the information from it when it could have been easier just to share. But the one thing I did learn is while they are in the light they have to protect their true form and they do that by posing as other things.”
“Rylee told me before we were called to the council chamber that someone would betray me and that he would try and turn me but I didn’t think it would come from my own mind like that.”
“Rylee told you about him?”
“No, she just said someone would come at me from a place full of sin and I would have to kill him before he turned me.”
“And you didn’t tell me about this why?”
“Because I forgot about it up until now with everything else going on and she only said it that one time.”
“We are going to have to figure out a way to record her when she gets a prediction or we won’t know about them until days later like with this. If I would’ve known about what she said I would’ve been paying closer attention to you and what was going on.”
It isn’t just your fault Jason I knew what Rylee said and I forgot also with everything else going on I should’ve known that Daymond was who Rylee was talking about.
“Well we know about him now and we can keep a closer eye on Night until we do find him and kill him.”
“Lorcan did you get anything else out of the conversation from them like if they are going to try again or try some other way?”
Not really Daymond was really mad and wouldn’t listen to anything or anyone and in his rage, he had killed the family that had owned the house because he didn’t like looking at them anymore.
“He killed” I went pale again I could feel everything at that point drain from me and I floated to the floor from sadness and from being horror struck. Wrapping my arms around myself because I had started to shiver I asked: “why did they even keep them alive?”
Because the art you saw was real and that family was the ones who created it, they needed them to keep it up so you wouldn’t think there was something wrong.
"So to keep up the story they kept a family alive, they were alive up until Lorcan brought me out of that place and Daymond lost me again." I got up told them both I needed time to myself and headed to my part of the tent. I knew they both were concerned and wanted to try and help but there was nothing anyone could do. Before I closed my eyes I did ask Lorcan to stop blocking my mind if Daymond wanted me this time he would have to face me with me knowing the truth.
